主讲人简介




Peter H. Egger教授，国际著名经济学家，现任苏黎世联邦理工学院（ETH, Zürich）经济学教授，自2013年起担任国际著名经济学期刊Review of International Economics的主编，是美国经济学学会、欧洲经济学学会、计量经济学学会、英国皇家经济学学会等知名经济学学会的成员。Peter H. Egger教授研究领域主要集中在面板和空间计量经济学的理论和应用、国际经济学和区域经济学的理论和应用、产业组织和跨国公司等方面，学术成果丰硕。目前已在包括American Economic Review、Journal of Econometrics、Economic Journal、Journal of International Economics等在内的国际顶级期刊上发表论文200余篇。



内容简介


In this lecture we will discuss two papers: The Geography of Development （Desmet, Nagy, and Rossi-Hansberg, 2018）and The Economic Geography of Innovation （Egger and Pueschel, 2019）. Both papers use a Ricardian production and supply structure where land is regarded as an immobile factor and labor as a mobile factor. In the circumstance with S regions and mobile labor, we need at least S-1 conditions to determine the endogenous labor allocation. Hence a set of equilibrium mobility conditions is needed to determine how many workers settle where. Land is fixed and the marginal product of labor when starting at zero is infinite, so regions will not get fully depopulated.
